Shooting : Snow, -5°C and the setting sun

I took the photograph above this evening while I was walking through the woods, at -5°C and about 20 cm of snow. It shows my hometown Lemgo, covered by snow, lit by the setting sun. The last couple of days were unusually cold and brought much snow, but the weather was great for some really nice (and really cold) photo tours. I have got about 4000 unprocessed photos waiting on my disk, to be sorted and developed whenever I find the time.

Both images were shot with the Nikon D200 and a Nikon 70-300 F4.5-5-6 VR lens that I lent from my father. It’s a remarkable little lens that seems to be easily on par with my Sigma 70-200 F2.8 when it’s used stopped down for landscapes.

There might be a better shots within those files I brought home today, but I decided to pick out a few shots quickly every time I’m out shooting and blog them. They may or may not end up on my portfolio page and/or on DeviantArt, but this is exactly the kind of photographs I’d like to use this blog for.
