Photo : orion on ice

This is a seriously messed up shot, in a few different ways. I like it none the less. Click the image for a larger view!

The most obvious flaw is the lack of balance, I should have centered the lights of the city. Then again I wanted to shoot the Orion constellation, not the city lights. The other flaw is the noise performance, which is most obvious in the reflection on the ice.

I shot this with the Sigma 12-24 F4.5-5.6 at 12mm to capture both the stars and the reflection on the frozen lake. Due to the slow lens and my ambition to capture the stars as points and not trails I had to push up the ISO and still underexpose the image. Even with noise reduction the amount of noise is still considerable.
